With the on-going and progressive escalation of Covid-19, these are now unprecedented times that we find ourselves navigating. Following the most recent government announcements and the subsequent closing of the golf courses at Carton House, a conference call took place with all stakeholders of Carton Demesne Management Company. A decision was made on this call that as of the morning of Friday 27th March 2020, the estate will close to all non-authorised persons. While not an easy decision, all parties agreed this is necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all estate residents, members, staff and the general public. As we are a private estate, the required controls are simply not available to ensure that the government’s recommended social distancing rules are applied throughout the estate.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that as of today, we announce the closure of Carton House until further notice, with the exception of Carton House Golf for now. The safety of our guests and team are too important to be risking at this escalating stage of Covid-19. For us, it's the first time we've closed our doors since we opened them in 2006 - but needs must. Thankfully, at present, our hotel renovations continue and we look forward to sharing with you our brand new-look hotel, the same great team and our journey in becoming a Fairmont property over the coming months. Stay well everyone and look after each other.
These are tough times for the Irish tourism and hospitality industry but together we will get through this.
For now, we are continuing to welcome guests to Carton House however we have closed Carton House Spa & Wellness as well as The Carriage House in line with government recommendations. Our guest bedrooms, 2 championship golf courses and Linden Tree Restaurant are still operating as normal albeit with certain operational adjustments. Our estate, all 1,100 acres of it is very much open and we encourage all guests and local residents of Kildare to get out and enjoy this while practicing social distancing rules.
Rest assured, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus outbreak and are implementing stringent measures to minimise risk of transmission throughout the resort. Our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff.
We have implemented strict protocols and daily preventative actions and are maintaining a duty of care to staff and guests ensuring clear protocols are followed if any guest or employee alerts the hotel that they are not feeling well. The guest will be referred to a medical professional and the hotel will adhere to the strict guidance provided.
Additional hygiene measures and precautions have been taken across all public areas, outlets and bedrooms, by all departments and personnel of the hotel. This includes hand sanitiser being readily available for guests and employees, and visible dispensers throughout the public areas.
We recommend that all guests review guidance from the HSE & World Health Organization, follow any travel advice issued and continue to monitor safe and cautionary travel zones as the situation is changing daily. We thank you in advance for your vigilance on this matter.
Please be aware that we are adopting a flexible cancellation and alteration policy for guests who have been in high risk areas in the last two weeks. For those whose travel has included low risk areas we maintain our standard T&Cs and usual openness to discussion.
Please be assured that as a company we are taking this situation very seriously to ensure the safety and comfort of all of our guests and employees. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact the hotel on +353 (0)1 505 2000.
Our Carton House renovation project is thankfully still continuing during these times which we are are so greatful for. We look forward to continuing to share updates of this with you all and we will have a beautifully restored property for you to visit when this passes.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership during this challenging time.
Stay safe and look after one another.
We will get through this.
